Welcome to La Escuela del Buen Vivir or The School of Wellbeing!

What is it?

The School of Wellbeing is a set of strategies designed to support the positive resettlement of Latin American immigrants in Aotearoa. Our approach ensures that each participant receives personalized strategic guidance, valuable training, and full support on their journey toward well-being and integration into New Zealand society.

It works on eight key areas

As the name suggests, the School of Wellbeing is a space for growth and empowerment. Participants attend a minimum of four sessions, focusing on the areas where they need the most support. Depending on their individual needs, some may choose to complete all eight modules.

How do we do it?

At Escuela del Buen Vivir, we provide effective advisory services and tailored solutions for each family, guiding them toward their goals. Through comprehensive assessments and meaningful conversations with participants, we identify specific needs and interests. Based on this, we develop a customized plan that covers essential topics, including:

-Family dynamics & conflict resolution
-Personal identity & self-development

-Health & well-being strategies
-Financial literacy & economic stability
-Legal rights & community resources

Our holistic approach ensures that every family receives the support and tools needed to thrive in their personal and social environments.

Tailored Support

During the process, if additional support is required (e.g., counselling or specific services), we can refer participants to the necessary resources with their consent. Each module and the overall process include evaluation tools to measure progress and achievements.

What is Buen Vivir (Wellbeing)?

Buen Vivir (Wellbeing) is the satisfaction of basic needs, allowing individuals to live and die with dignity. It encompasses living in love and creativity, as well as fostering growth in health, peace, harmony, reciprocity, and solidarity with all forms of life and cultures. Wellbeing involves harnessing opportunities through skills and abilities, thriving, and fully participating in all aspects of society. It is about collaboration, not competition. This project embodies the principles of protection, participation, and partnership between ALAC Inc. and the families and communities in Aotearoa.
